I'm an American!

After hearing from the DNA lab last week that they needed 6 business days to process our test kit, we decided to pay a rush fee to have the results the same day. So, three people stayed late into the night at the lab to complete the analysis on Friday (Thursday night PST) so that the report could be emailed to the Embassy before the 3-day holiday weekend. We received a call from Nancy at the American Citizens Services to pick up Aedan's passport later that afternoon.

We then headed over to the High Court to met with Mr. Chawla, our lawyer, about expediting the exit visa process. His associate, Radika, gave us two checklists of the documentation required for both the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Foreigner's Regional Registration Office (FRRO). We spent today organizing all of our paperwork and crossing off each required item. We are meeting Radika at the MHA tomorrow morning and the FRRO on Tuesday.

We are hoping for everything to take about a week if things go the way they did for the Christmas Eve Boys. It would be absolutely wonderful if we were able to leave on Friday night or, even better, if we were not selected for an inquiry at all. We know it is a slim chance for either.

Today Aedan is 3 weeks old and still an absolute doll. Things are going a lot smoother for her and me. It was determined after quitting one of the breastfeeding medications that I was having a bad reaction to the drug. Although stopping it has negatively impacted my milk supply, I am much better off emotionally and mentally without it. I'm a better mommy now even if we are having to supplement Aedan's feedings.

The landlord where we are staying had a sofa that was downstairs in the common area brought up to our room so we have a couch to sit on for eating and feeding and watching TV. It is so much more comfortable here now. We are very appreciative that he not only listened, but also resolved our concern so quickly. Thank you, Deepak!

Aedan loves her bath time. She becomes so relaxed in the water and likes to kick her little legs in the bubbles. She gets doe-eyed and it makes our hearts warm with love for her. Her gaze can pierce right through you. I give her a baby massage with some organic lotion afterward and she seems to really respond to my touch.

Well, there is some squirming and fussing going on right now so I better go see to my little one. She's become quite the voracious eater of late. I'll keep you posted on how our appointment goes tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that we are lucky and skate right through.

  6. Wonderful pictures; she does look like such a sweet and serene baby. You radiate glowing love for her. The picture with the passport is a milestone shot; I love it!

Good to hear, with passport in hand, you are now offically in the count down for departure; better sooner than later (of course) for family and friends awaiting your return. If an inquiry is necessary for Aedan's exit visa, then as one parent(who recently had to go through it) posted, "It is what it is." and one more week should be be over before you know it.

We here in the States, will wait as patiently as humanly :-) possible; which seems to vary wildly from human to human. However, if an inquiry will help surrogate mothers going forward, then the delay is for a good and worthy cause.

Hugs and kisses 0XOXOX to you, Aaron and little Aedan until we can love on you all in person!

  7. I just got a message that said, "Your comment will be visible after approval." Now that is an awesome feature I didn't know you could do.

Hopefully that means you can easily filter out any trolls who anonymously leave insincere, intentionally hurtful comments. Good to see this control is built into the blog system.
